Showing & Growing: A Garden Show in Buckhead
April 25 – 27, 2014 at the Buckhead Theatre
Previewing the 2015 Southeastern Flower Show
Vision: Returning to our roots, we are bringing the Southeastern Flower Show back into the community. The 2014 show will take place in an abbreviated show style and will set the stage for the 2015 Southeastern Flower Show and future shows to come. In spirit of continuous improvement, we are building upon the lessons learned from prior shows.
Volunteer Community: The show relies on the efforts of an army of dedicated volunteers. Their generous investments of time, talent and treasure must be foremost in our minds. We are committed to careful planning and budget management to ensure the goals for each show are met.
The Legacy Garden is a hallmark of the Southeastern Flower Show; in its current form it wastes precious resources. We see an opportunity to evolve this to a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner. Each year as part of the landscape division a permanent garden will be created on site at the show location.
Technology: Taking a progressive approach toward the development of future shows, we will expand and grow our technological abilities with upgraded computer systems and create added value to sponsors and audiences.
Show Structure: In order to implement the best planning and development practices, we will work hand in hand with a flower show advisory planning committee. SHS Board members and staff will provide project management under the advice of the committee.
Show Community: In our planning we will take special steps to align the show with important garden club organizations, plant societies and associations, flower shows and new trends emerging such as Chelsea Fringe.
We ask you to join us and share your knowledge, expertise and ideas as we plan the 2014 abbreviated show and set the stage for the 2015 Southeastern Flower Show. The 2014 show will not include a juried competition as requested by a flower show committee but we anticipate the following elements will be featured: Artistic, speakers, photography, discovery, outdoor landscapes, children’s activities and a marketplace.
